LG GW620With many of the major mobile phone manufacturers announcing their Android sets, LG decides to follow suit as well. Although there was little signs from LG regarding the release, but it has been a matter of speculation for bloggers and industry commentators. Finally LG breaks the ice with LG GW620. The LG GW620 is a touch screen phone with a slider QWERTY keyboard. It features a
3” TFT touch resistive screen with 256 colors and a 320 x 480 pixels resolution. Apart from the resistive touch screen, the accelerometer sensor is present for the auto-rotate feature. Although the size of the screen is impressive given the size of the set, the color display could have been better. It has a beautiful design and finish. The slider keyboard pictures may make the handset look a little bulky, but it weighs 127 grams with battery, which is not bad for a slider keyboard phone. The design of the set is compact with the length of just over 4 inches.

LG GW620 supports Wi-Fi and A2DP wireless data transfer modes. Apart from that it works on a quad-band GSM, GPRS and EDGE networks, while also supporting 3G protocols like HSDPA. Being an Android smartphone, the phone features Google email, a web browser with WAP 2.0, HTML and X-HTML. The phone features an impressive 5.0 mega pixel auto focus camera, which can record a 720 x 480 resolution video at 30 frames per second, assisted GPS and FM Radio.

According to Dr. Scott Ahn, the CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communication Limited, the LG GW620 smartphone would be the right choice for users who are switching to the Android platform for the first time. Given the basic nature of display, it could be speculated that LG GW620 would be among the more affordable smartphones around. The release of the LG GW620 is expected near the end of the year, probably before Christmas holidays when there should be some great LG GW620 dealls to pick from.
