HTC Hero
The HTC Hero makes use of the new Google Android OS, which makes viewing items displayed on the screen a real pleasure. The HTC Hero is only the second phone to make use of the Google Android OS, the first being the HTC Magic (G1). The phone is a tad thick with a waistline of 14.3 mm but the curved edges gives the illusion of being thinner than it actually is.
The HTC Hero has a top – of – the – range 5 megapixel camera which enables you to shoot crystal clear pictures in an atmosphere where there is good lighting. However, pictures taken in dim light tend to be a bit blurry due to the lack of light, often not having definition. The 3.5 mm headset jack, found on the edge of the Hero, is a real boon as you will be able to plug in your favourite headset rather than the proprietary headset that came with the phone.
However, the fact that there is no QWERTY keyboard is a fairly big disadvantage as far as addictive texters are concerned as they might find their typing speed going down due to having to type from the screen. The Hero enables you to make use of upto 7 home screens which can be customized according to your own preferences.
The HTC Hero makes use of the Windows Mobile TouchFlow 3D skin which enables you to easily access any feature present in the phone. A large number of tiny widgets can be placed on the home screen and can be used to select any app of your choice. The music player present on the phone has an improved set of looks due to its cover-flow style interface. A disadvantage of the phone was the fact that scrolling through a long contacts list tended to be slow and, sometimes, even difficult.
