Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro Bada Smart Phones Confirmed

The next Bada handsets from Korean phone maker Samsung have just been confirmed and they have already been announced for an Asian and Russian launch. So far, no word has been given as to whether the device would actually make it to UK shores though it is expected that a 3G capable version of the Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro would be made before the mobile phone makes it to local stores.

It may seem surprising to many, but yes, the Samsung S5250 Wave 2 and the S5330 Wave 2 Pro will only have 2G network support. No reason has been given as to why the devices are dedicated 2G units, but some believe that this has something to do with Samsung’s previous announcement that they intend to make the smart phone available to everyone (and bringing 3G support would only bring up the price).

Still, the feature is expected to be present if and when the smart phone comes out in the UK and the US (and it is quite likely that Samsung will be bringing the device outside of Russia and Asia later on).

The two handsets are pretty much identical in specs. Both have modestly sized 3.2 inch TFT touch screen displays (complete with an accelerometer and the TouchWiz user interface). The 80MB of internal memory is pretty small so users are expected to take advantage of the microSD card slot which can support up to 16GB cards. At 3.2 mega pixels, the camera is pretty decent for a mid range smart phone and it can even take videos too (video resolution currently unconfirmed).

All in all, these two devices deliver the Bada operating system in the way that Samsung originally intended –with just the right balance of hardware, features and of course, a decent price tag.
