Handset Rumors Round Up

There are plenty of new smart phones coming out soon, but for those who are really looking forward to new devices, here are a few unconfirmed rumors about new smart phones that could be worth looking into.

First on the list is a new, yet to be named Sony Ericsson handset. The device has only been pictured in a leaked image, but the concept is very convincing, or at the very least, we would want it to be true. The image revealed a brand new smart phone with a 5 inch touch screen display that tilted sideways and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. In many ways, the device could be used as a mini computer –after all, the handset is already running the Android operating system. Expect to see this device further confuse people about smart phones and tablets when it actually comes out.

There is a second Sony Ericsson handset in the rumors the XPERIA Shakira. While we seriously doubt that the handset will retain the name, there is plenty of belief that this handset is actually real and will see release pretty soon. Overall, there is little that is special or unique about the new handset, but with its unique size, it certainly fits in the market demand for a medium sized Android that Sony Ericsson skipped with the XPERIA X10 and X10 Mini devices.

Closing up the list is a potential Windows Phone 7 handset from Nokia. While the possibility is always there, there is little belief that the handset would actually be released by the holidays; at best it will be available by next year. The idea was shown when a demonstration of new Nokia handset featured the WP7 OS alongside many other operating systems such as the Symbian Series 40 and the Maemo operating system.
