Sales Figures for iPad Unveiled by Apple
Steve Jobs is one happy man, despite looking a little worn out and thinner than usual, the Apple guru went on to announce that Apple is now busy churning out iPads to keep with the demand. The Cupertino based company had shipped out around 300,000 more units to stores in order to stop the device from going out of stock on shelves and according to their reports, they have now sold over 450,000 units in the United States.
The device launched last weekend, April 3 in the US where thousands of people all over the country lined up in stores in order to purchase the device. Other have been smart enough to pre-order ahead of time though in some stores, pre-order customers were advised to pick up their devices early so that they will not have to wait for a second shipment as stores tried to keep up with customer demands.
The Apple iPad was not just a commercial success; it also earned the approval of many tech analysts and reviewers. And among those who tried it out, there is one outstanding agreement –the iPad made the internet more accessible. Of course, there are still many comments regarding the device’s lack of Flash support (a major hassle for people who frequented video sharing sites as those heavily relied on FLV formats).
All in all, the iPad was deemed as a device of want as opposed to a device that we truly need. Still, it is an excellent piece of luxury to indulge in as it brings web browsing, eBook reading, media playback and other features all in the palm of our hands. The 9.7 inch touch screen tablet is expected to hit local store shelves in the UK by April 24.
