Google Nexus OneThe day has finally arrived! The Google Nexus One has been unveiled. This has been a long time coming for anxious followers of the newest and greatest Android Smartphone. With new mobile phones seemingly hitting the market, one after the other, the excitement surrounding the Nexus One has been amongst the most rabid. Not only were people excited about the quality and possible features of the phone but there was lot of curiosity concerning whether or not it would live up to all of the hype. Up until the phone’s official release, there had been a number of “inside” reports or reviews penned by people who supposedly had trustworthy, anonymous sources. Well, much of the information leaked actually out turned out to be true.

Google sees the Nexus One as a next level, Android-handset. They view it as the phone that is finally helping to move the technology forward. It really is hard to argue with that contention. It is a very nice phone, spec-rich and almost guaranteed to give the iPhone a run for their money. The one thing, however, that may thwart the phone spreading like wild fire among the masses, is its price tag. It is really expensive, especially considering the economic state of many countries. At $529 (£331) direct from Google, the price will be prohibitive for some. Individuals can however, benefit from a drastic price reduction if they purchase their phone through T-Mobile and sign a contract. The price falls to $179 (£112) in this case.

The Nexus One is quite comparable to the iPhone and even looks very similar to it. It is a slim handset that has a 3.7 inch touch screen, 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. Individuals will benefit from voice recognition, GPS, a built in compass and 1 GHz snapdragon processor. The comes with 512 MB of memory. More can be added with a microSD card.
