Blackberry Bold 9700

Blackberry Bold 9700The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is the inevitable successor to the highly popular Bold 9000, and from a superficial viewing of the two handsets they look very similar indeed. However, there are a few differences that clearly mark them out as separate phones of differing statures. For one, the new Bold 9700 has a sleeker design to its earlier sibling, with a lighter body and more ergonomic feel about it. While there are minor and almost unnoticeable differences (such as the accept call button icon has been inverted vertically), there are design changes that affect the interaction with the phone itself.

The iconic BlackBerry QWERTY pad remains virtually unchanged on the new Bold, but the central trackball has instead been replaced with a newfangled ‘trackpad’. Oh yes. The new trackpad has many advantages over the old school trackball, most noticeably a much smoother interaction and the removal of those unfortunate incidents where the trackball is knocked about inside a bag or pocket causing all sorts of unexpected mishaps.

The changes are not all cosmetic though, as the Bold 9700 has some serious hardware advantages over the earlier Bold 9000 including a faster processor, increased memory and an improved battery life. While both use a TFT LCD screen with 65,000 colours the BlackBerry Bold 9700 comes with an improved resolution of 480 x 360 providing better quality visuals.

The new Bold is already on sale and many people are already making use of all the fantastic BlackBerry Bold 9700 deals being offered. While offering many 3G and Wi-Fi advantages over other BlackBerry models, owners of the BlackBerry Bold 9000 might not find as much to warrant an upgrade to the new Bold, even though it does have many design improvements and a much more modern look and feel to it.
