The LG GD510 Pop is Here

LG GD510 PopThe full details of the LG GD510 have been out for a while now and its makes one wonder, how far can manufacturers push the eco-friendly label on devices before it becomes a standard?

The trendy little number from LG boasts an impressive phone design, decent features and an optional solar panel back that puts the “extra” in extra features. Still, the lack of 3G and WiFi terribly lowers the overall functionality, or rather, versatility of the device.

To judge the Pop on the basis of lacking two major features alone whoever, would be unfair. This LG phone sports a pretty impressive spec sheet in terms of hardware and it also shows how much style a small device can have.

Specs and Features

The most prominent feature of the Pop is its TFT LCD screen. It’s a small phone, but it managed to cram in a 3 inch touch screen –the super thin borders shows just how much space the display takes up. The prominence is also due to the fact that this phone relies on touch screen input for almost all functions.

A small button on the lower right corner provides context sensitive commands such as home/back or receive call/end call. It even changes from a green light to a red light for added emphasis.

Adding bigger numbers to the spec sheet is the 8GB of internal memory. It is pretty generous considering that users will be mostly using up the space for media files –the Pop’s media player can play most file formats too. The 3 mega pixel camera is more of an average-level feature, but still a welcome addition. GPRS and EDGE support provide internet access for those who can do make do with the lack of HSDPA.

Free On contract

LG GD510 Pop contracts are available on Orange Mobile UK. The Dolphin 30 plan is particularly impressive with its 30 Pound/12 month offer that gives the Pop for free. T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2 are also offering this device.
