Google and LG Bring Us the LG GW620
There is no stopping the Android operating system from making it to number one. LG knows this and is fully supporting the Google made OS by coming out with not just one, but two Android smart phones. The second device they are working on is a much talked about and ever so mysterious Snapdragon model. This 1 GHz powered behemoth of a mobile phone has yet to show its true form so Android enthusiasts wanting to see their favorite OS on 1 GHz will have to wait for the XPERIA X10 and Acer Liquid to arrive. Meanwhile, LG has already released their first Android device, the unassuming, yet incredible versatile LG GW620 Android smart phone.
Misplaced Attention
While the Android does merit to have as many good phones as possible, the congestion of devices using the Google OS right now is pretty overwhelming; if not for the number, then also for the potential of the hardware being used for these upcoming devices. While HTC is keeping everyone’s Android needs filled with their excellent mid-level smart phones, they are also preparing the HTC Hero, their high end device meant to compete with the other big name Android phones. With all these devices out, the GW620 is not getting much attention despite being available.
So-so Specs
The catch with the Android is that the specs are nowhere near spectacular. In fact, if you do without the 5 mega pixel camera and the slide out keyboard, you get the usual slew of hardware. The Gw620 has a 3 inch resistive touch screen, FM radio, music and video playback, A-GPS, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, WiFi, 3G HSDPA and a microSD card slot. Nothing new or exceptional; in fact, you might be better off with one of HTC’s Android devices instead, or you can wait for one of the upcoming high end Androids.
